C.1690 English Staghorn-Hilted Hunting Sword – German King’s Head Blade
Late-17th Century hunting sword.
A late-17th Century staghorn-hilted hunting sword – blade with deeply stamped King’s Head mark, indicating German manufacture – these swords were popular in England at the end of the 17th Century. Would originally have had a shell guard but this was removed – looks like it could have been a period removal – maybe for ease of wearing. Blade length is 19.5 inches (24 inches overall).
