Excellent and scarce example of an early 18th Century smallsword with distinctive colichemarde blade – probably dating from the 1720’s/30’s. With extensively decorated brass double-shell guard – copper twistwire and banding to the grip – all still remains. Plain colichemarde blade with wide and pronouced forte. Blade length is 32 inches (38.5 inches overall). Comes with a later, modern scabbard that has been specially made for the sword.
