C.1850 British Military Bandsword/Ceremonial Sword – South African Origin(?)
British 19th Century military bandsword.
An unusual mid-19th Century British military bandsword/cermonial sword – of a similar type that was carried by numerous regiments, particularly when they had flexibility of hilt design choice. Hilt made from cast-brass and with double-fullered, double-edged blade – no scabbard. This sword came from South Africa so might have been used in a colonial military band of the 19th Century. In good overall condition. Blade length is 26 inches (32 inches overall).
