C.1850’s/60’s German Export Cavalry Trooper’s Sword
19th Century cavalry trooper’s sword.
A typical mid-19th Century German-made export cavalry trooper’s sword – many of these were shipped to the USA during the American Civil War and carried by both sides, particularly at the start of the war when imports were required to balance the shortfall in home manufacturing. With brass, three-bar hilt, leather grip and plain, slightly curved blade – no maker marks – just numbers to the hilt. Complet with heavy steel scabbard. Blade length is 35 inches (41 inches overall).
