C.1900’s Dutch Model 1876 Cavalry Officer’s Sword and Scabbard
Dutch Army officer’s sword.
Excellent and scarce example of a German-made Dutch Army officer’s sword. Based on the Prussian Model 1852 cavalry sword and made by Weyersberg and Kirschbaum for export. With fishskin and copper wire to the grip. Plated steel hilt and complete with rarely found Dutch state sword knot. Blade with etched “YZERHOUWER” on one side and the retailer – “C. VAN HAL AND ZOON BREDA” to the reverse. Blade in very good condition. Complete with scabbard. Blade length is 34 inches (40 inches overall).
