C.1900’s West African Mandingo Sword

Good example of a c.1900’s West African Mandingo Sword.  With leather wrapped hilt and distinctive pommel with grooved brass ball to the top.  Blade is likely to be European in origin and probably from the early 19th Century – many earlier European blades were applied to African swords during this period.  No scabbard.  Blade length is 21 (28 inches overall).
