Excellent Dutch Army Model 1898 Klewang Cutlass captured by the Japanese during WW2 when the cut-out bowl hilt was removed. These cutlasses were issued to the “HeiHo” – locals in the Dutch East Indies who collaborated with the Japanese. Early wooden hilt with “HEMBRUG” stamp to the blade forte and Dutch issue mark to the reverse. Blade in excellent condition with no corrosion or pitting – complete with fine brown leather and brass-mounted scabbard – also issue stamped. Blade length is 18 inches (23 inches overall).
