Early 19th Century Naval Cutlass-Type Short Sword
19th Century cutlass-type sword.
Unusual early 19th Century cutlass-type short sword – probably English or European. Likely to have been of private e.g blacksmith manufacture or on board ship. With turned wooden grip, copper guard and plain, slightly curved blade – with plenty of wear indicating possible salt water corrosion. Blade length is 20 inches (25 inches overall).
