French Model 1842 Sword Bayonet – Unmarked Export – American Civil War

A scarce example of an unmarked French Model 1842 sword bayonet likely to have been made by German manufacturers for export to the US during the American Civil War.  Quantities of these bayonets were shipped to the US during the early stages of the Civil War before home manufacturers could produce enough bayonets to supply the respective Union and Confederate armies.  Blade length is 22.5 inches (27.5 inches overall).
