Original US Model 1840 P.S. Justice “Wristbreaker” Cavalry Trooper’s Sword
US Civil War sword.
A very scarce and original US Model 1840 P.S. Justice of Philadelphia cavalry trooper’s sword. With large, three-bar brass hilt and retaining all original leather and twistwire to the grip. Maker’s name still partially visible to the blade forte. P.S. Justice produced far fewer swords than the other known makers during the American Civil War and this example has a blade that was imported from Schnitzler and Kirchbaum (S&K)of Germany with other parts produced in the US. This sword was part of the 1861 contract for 13,685 swords ordered by the Federal government. Blade in good condition. Complete with scabbard showing heavy wear. Blade length is 38 inches (42 inches overall).
