Scarce 19th Century Chilean Military Officer’s Sword
19th Century Chilean military officer’s sword.
Very unusual 19th Century Chilean military officer’s sword. With an Andean Condor bird’s head pommel – very detailed. The brass hillt seems to be based on the British 1827 Pattern Royal Navy Officer’s Sword but with the inclusion of a single star to the centre. The etched blade is probably German-made as is the sword and I would guess that this is an export piece from a German sword maker to the Chilean Army or Navy. A fascinating piece. No scabbard. Blade length is 29 inches (35 inches overall).
