Rare C.1700’s Scottish Highlander’s Sgian Dubh Knife

An extremely rare and original c.1700’s Scottish Highlander’s knife or sgian dubh of early form.  With elaborately decorated boxwood hilt inlaid in swirling designs and roundels – pommel with brass cap.  The plain blade has typical notches to the top of the blade seen on Highland dirks of the period and afterwards.  It comes complete with its original tooled leather scabbard and it is remarkable that this has still survived after 300 years.  Unlikely that you will see another one again of this great age and authenticity.  Blade length is 4.85 inches (8.25 inches overall).
