A British Army 1842 Pattern Socket Bayonet for the Lovell’s Catch.  It was used with the 1842 Pattern Musket and the earlier 1839 Pattern muskets that were upgraded to the Lovell Catch system.  This example is stamped with a Birmingham inspection stamp and “EX” and “X” marks, indicating that it was sold out of service.  Blade length is 17 inches (21 inches overall).
