For further information about the history of the regiment please go to here. The hanger comprises a brass hilt and leather grip.
Sword regimentally engraved to the blade
The hanger is engraved to the West Kent Militia - "WKM" and with the soldier's number - 13. This designation is repeated to the scabbard locket and guarantees that both the sword and scabbard have always been together. The blade is of typical form, single-fullered and also maker named to Osborn and Gunby (Birmingham). An official government inspector's mark is stamped to the blade forte. In very good shape overall. Split to brass scabbard chape. Blade length is 27.5 inches (36 inches overall).
