A very good example of a 19th Century Caucasian Kindjal Dagger with exceptionally long, multi-fullered blade – and deeply impressed, star-shaped maker’s marks.  The hilt is made from black horn with chiselled and intricate steel mounts.  The horn grips are secured to the tang with three steel nails.  These kindjal daggers were carried throughout Russia and Eastern Europe and the Balkans and this example is typical of the dagger type.  They were a very effective fighting weapon and devastating in close combat.

Double-edged kindjal dagger blade

The blade is double-edged for its entire length and has a number of deep fullers.  In good condition for its age with a very good age patina to the blade.
