An original British 19th Century Naval Cutlass Machete. These cutlass machetes were quite common during the 19th Century and they were used on both ships and land. This example is of typical form and comprises a green horn grip and wide, flat-backed blade.
Blade is deeply stamped with maker's name and crown
It is deeply stamped with the name of the cutler, W. A. Lyndon and above that is the Victorian crown. There is also some lettering and a stamp to either side. It comes complete with its original leather scabbard - this is quite uncommon. In good condition overall - with commensurate age and service wear. Blade length is 18 inches (22.5 inches overall).
