Superb and very attractive c.1800's Indo-Persian decorated wavy-bladed sword with a heavily and deeply decorated steel hilt and blade. The blade is decorated with flowers, inset brass panel and varied figures. The hilt is also extensively decorated with scrolling foliage to the full extent of the hilt. This blade style was quite popular in Indo-Persian weaponry and was used by both infantry and horsemen from the 17th-19th Century - it probably had little advantage in combat over a typically curved blade but was certainly more interesting!
Fine age patina to blade and hilt
In excellent condition for its age and with a wonderful age patina to both the blade and the hilt. Both hilt and blade are rock solid with no movement. A really pleasing piece that would display very well. Blade length is 24 inches (29.5 inches overall).
