A good example of a US Model 1917 Remington Bayonet and Scabbard

This is a fine and original Model 1917 Remington bayonet with grooved wooden grip and blued hilt fittings.  The blade retains the original Parkerising.  Maker marked to the blade forte.  Complete with green painted leather scabbard.  A nice piece.

An original Austrian Model 1888 NCO’s Bayonet

With wooden grip and steel hilt mounts, including hooked quillon.  Bayonet is marked to the crossguard, blade forte and scabbard belt hook.

A very good and quite unusual example of a c.1780 English infantry officer’s cut-steel sword with a steel, double-shell hilt and faceted oval pommel.

The grip is made from finely cut and ribbed ivory that is complete and without any damage.  Many ivory sword grips of this age are chipped or cracked so it is nice to find one that has survived such a long period of time.  The blade is of slim, rapier profile and is double-edged.  This sword dates from a time that probably pre-dates the introduction of official patterns to British military swords.  In this case, the first type, cushion-pommelled 1786 pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword would have followed this sword.  I would guess that this sword is from a time when British infantry officers had more influence as to the choice of sword design that they wished to carry and this was a unique private purchase example.

In excellent condition throughout – very fine dark and smooth age patina to both the hilt and blade.  Blade length is 32.5 inches (39 inches overall).

Highly unusual and scarce English C.1640 Dish Hilt Rapier Sword

This is a very fine example of an English early 17th Century dish hilt rapier sword with chiselled decoration to the dish hilt.  The sword is probably unique in that it has a highly distinctive carved horn grip that has the appearance of a bamboo stalk.  The pommel is of large, globular form and the knucklebow and hilt bars are of bilobate style.  Blade is inlaid with brass lettering and symbols.  A very attractive piece.

In excellent condition for its age – small losses to the grip.

A very rare British 1850 Royal Engineers Driver’s Sword and Scabbard

This is one of the rarest of British regulation military swords for the collector.  The sword was actually manufactured by Schnitzler & Kirschbaum of Solingen for the Prussian Guard Hussar Regiment.  The sword was rejected during trials and eventually sold to the British Army who issued it the Royal Engineers.  Very few have survived and this sword has become a major target for British sword collectors.  It comprises a heavy iron, three-bar hilt and ribbed leather grip.  The blade is marked with British Army issue and sold out of service marks – there are also German issue stamps (dated to 1850) to the blade spine.  Complete with scabbard.

Condition of the Sword

In good overall condition – dark age patina and wear to the hilt and scabbard.

English C.1800 Napoleonic Basket-hilted Naval Cutlass

An exceptionally rare and possibly unique example of a British Napoleonic basket-hilted Royal Navy Cutlass.   This appears to have been purpose-made at the time and comprises a sturdy iron basket hilt with a triangular pommel.  The blade is very wide and has a deeply impressed royal “GR” cypher, coupled with stars and moons.  The grip is stained wood with the remains of a buff leather liner(?).  This sword would have been a very effective close-quarter weapon on board a ship.  If you collect Napoleonic cutlasses, this has got to be one of the most unusual that you will come across.

Condition of the Cutlass

In good overall condition – some black japanning remains to the hilt.  One break to a hilt bar.

Attractive 20th Century Sumatran Golok Dagger Sword

A deeply carved 2oth Century Sumatran Golok Dagger Sword with unfullered blade that is deeply impressed with maker’s marks to the blade forte.  The grip is fashioned a parrot(?).  Complete with carved wooden scabbard.

A very rare example of a US Civil War Model 1852 Naval Officer’s Sword that is named to the owner on the pommel cap.  The sword is of standard type and made by Ames of Massachusetts – etched to the blade forte.  Blade has numerous etchings, including eagle, flag and stars, “USN”, crossed lances and anchor.

The sword has the name of J. (Joseph) Hadfield engraved to the pommel cap.  The brief research that I have done in the USN archives only comes up with one Hadfield, who served from 1863-1864 – please see here.  Hadfield is also mentioned in an account of action during the Civil War here.  Sword with fishskin grip and gilt brass hilt.  No scabbard.  In good condition overall – split to grip – some wear to the blade.  Blade length is 27.5 inches (33.5 inches overall).

An original and antique pair of armoured gauntlets

Definitely of good age but cannot be certain whether these are period or later but not modern.  Very well made and with fine articulation.  No damage or repairs that I can see.

Scarce German 1920’s Communist Red Front Clenched Fist Belt Buckle

A super rare and original German 1920’s Communist Red Front member’s clenched fist brass belt buckle.  The Red Front were the violent opponents of the Nazi Party and were established in 1924 and disbanded in 1929.  Many of its former members were murdered by the Nazis when they came into power in 1933.  For more information on the Red Front please go to here.  Have never seen one of these before and doubt if many have survived – an interesting addition to any German buckle collection.  Width of the buckle is 2.5 inches and the height is 2 inches.
