Downloading and running digital versions of my books

To be able to view the contents of my digital downloads you will require a PDF reading program such as Adobe Reader installed on your PC, tablet or Mac. For

Windows and Mac users, this is a free download from here:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

Help on extracting (unzipping) files can be found here:

https://www.pcrepairmansblog.com/unzip-files-contained-zip-archive/

  • Extract the files from the downloaded zip container to a location on your computer. There is no installation program, they can run from anywhere. We suggest you extract to your main hard drive, usually called “c:\” or “Local Disk”.
  • Navigate to the “Antique Swords Online” folder and double click it.
  • Double click the “British Military Swords 1786 to 1912” folder.
  • To run the program, double click the file called ‘start’ that has ‘Application’ written alongside it.
  • You can create a shortcut on your desktop to this start file for ease of opening.

Directions for tablet users

You can run an unzipping utility on your tablet and extract the PDF file, but since there are so many variations of tablet and software apps we suggest that the files are best extracted on a PC first and then just the main PDF copied over to your tablet.

The main PDF file is located in the following folder:

Antique Swords Online\British Military Swords 1786 to 1912

Further precautions to observe

Take care never to delete the contents of these folders. The files required to run the full desktop program are:
autorun.inf
disclaimer.txt
readme.txt
start.exe
start.ini
Resource1\british-military-swords-1786-1912-full.pdf
Resource1\bms.ico
Resource1\cover.jpg
Resource1\ref.txt

Please bear in mind that the downloads contain complete versions of my large full-colour books and as such will require space on your hard drive and sufficient memory to open and navigate.

I want to make sure you are completely happy with the downloaded files so please contact me if you have any questions using the contact form here
