English Late-17th Century Officer’s Broadsword

english-1680-officer-sword-2

A scarce English Late-17th Century Officer's Broadsword

This is a good example of an English c.1680-1700 Officer's sword - probably for a cavalry officer.  With iron, multi-bar hilt and large, engraved pommel.  Grip retains original cord binding.  Blade is deeply stamped with "SARARA"(?) and "SARRAVA" - also stamped with typical armourer's marks of opposing eyelashes.  The blade is double-fullered and double-edged towards the tip.  No scabbard.

Condition of the Broadsword

In good overall condition for its great age - wear to hilt and blade - break to one of the hilt bars.

Specifications of the Broadsword

Blade length is 31.5 inches (38 inches overall).
