A fine and Original African Masai Arm Dagger and Scabbard. This is a dagger carried by African Masai warriors and was attached to the arm by means of a coiled leather loop. The attachment of the dagger to the arm made practical sense as it allowed the warrior to use his physicality to get into position against his opponent before drawing the dagger. The hilt is made from wood with a stitched leather covering and triangular stone projection at the top of the pommel – assume this could have been used as a stabbing blade. The dagger is likely to date from the 20th Century. The blade is hand wrought with an incised decoration and ends with a distinctive stiletto point. The dagger comes complete with its original light brown scaled lizard skin(?) and leather scabbard. The condition of the dagger is excellent with no damage or repairs. Blade length is 8 inches (11 inches overall).
