A highly unusual C.1900's Antique Diving Military Knife and Scabbard. Have never seen this type of military knife before but it does bear a great resemblance to a military diving knife in that the hilt is brass and there is a solid brass scabbard of a type favoured by divers - the knife also fits deep into the scabbard as is the case with diving knives. The grip also comprises a chequered grip with a plain brass cartouche.
Brass scabbard with original black paint
The knife is certainly smaller than the usual diver's knife but I would be interested in any other explanations. The blade is plain with double-edged blade and triangular point. The brass scabbard has been painted black and retains its original paint. Cannot be sure what nation it comes from as it is unmarked but have been informed that it is Imperial German in origin. Blade length is 4.5 inches (9.5 inches overall).
