Bavarian Model 1895 EM’s/NCO’s Pickelhaube

Fine example of a Bavarian Model 1895 EM’s/NCO’s Pickelhaube. Fur Gott + Koenig (?) and a name that I can’t make out. These helmets were issued at the beginning of the First World War and were worn right through until 1918-1917 when they were replaced by the famous German Stahlhelm. These helmets, although very attractive visually, were soon found to be completely useless in modern trench warfare.

Condition of the pickelhaube is very good

Assume that the name written inside the helmet is the original owner. Condition is very good with only an old crease to the leather behind the state coat of arms. A great untouched piece for the serious collector of Imperial German Pickelhaubes. Length – end to end is 10 inches – width is 6 inches – would probably be a medium size.

Prussian 19th Century Model 1852 Child’s Sword

An unusual Prussian 19th Century Model 1852 Child’s Sword. This is a scarce piece and would have been made for a German boy during the 19th Century. It is a direct copy of the Prussian Model 1852 Cavalry Trooper’s Sword and comprises a steel hilt bound with fishskin and steel twistwire.

Complete with its original scabbard

The blade is plain and plated. The sword comes complete with scabbard. In good overall condition. Couple of wires loose to grip. Dent to scabbard chape. Blade length is 23 inches (27 inches overall).

WW1 Ottoman Turkish NCO’s Short Sword

An original and scarce WW1 Ottoman Turkish NCO’s Short Sword. These distinctive swords were issued to Turkish Army NCO’s during WW1 and were actually manufactured in Germany by Horster and Co. for export to their military ally. It comprises a steel D-Guard hilt with grip bound with fishskin and steel wire.

Blade engraved with Turkish script

The blade is maker marked to the forte and their is Turkish script to the forte and further along the blade. Comes complete with original and correct scabbard. In good overall condition – dark age toning – never been cleaned. Blade with light staining in places. Blade length is 17 inches (22 inches overall).

A scarce Scottish Early 19th Century Highland Officer’s Dirk

Here is a Scottish Highland Officer’s dirk from the first quarter of the 19th Century – probably dating from the Napoleonic Wars. With thistle-shaped hilt comprising carved interlaced designs pierced with silver studs, escutcheon and crossguard. The blade is of typical Highland dirk form with notched spine and pierced roundels. It is maker or retailer marked at the blade forte to Mcleod, College Street, Edinburgh. No scabbard.

Condition of the Dirk

In good overall condition – light wear to the blade – small scratch to crossguard.

British 19th Century Naval Cutlass Machete

An original British 19th Century Naval Cutlass Machete. These cutlass machetes were quite common during the 19th Century and they were used on both ships and land. This example is of typical form and comprises a green horn grip and wide, flat-backed blade.

Blade is deeply stamped with maker’s name and crown

It is deeply stamped with the name of the cutler, W. A. Lyndon and above that is the Victorian crown. There is also some lettering and a stamp to either side. It comes complete with its original leather scabbard – this is quite uncommon. In good condition overall – with commensurate age and service wear. Blade length is 18 inches (22.5 inches overall).

A very rare and seldom seen Indian Issue WW2 Fairburn-Sykes Fighting Commando Knife

These knives were produced in India during the WW2 and are different in manufacture to the traditional British Fairburn-Sykes fighting knives, especially with regard to the blade and scabbard. The blade is double-edged and with a raised median ridge that runs the length of the blade. The scabbard comprises darkened brass hilt mounts and a thick stitched leather body.

Condition of the Knife

In good overall condition with commensurate service wear to the blade.

US WW2 M3 Infantry Combat Fighting Knife

A good and original example of a US WW2 M3 Infantry Combat Fighting Knife. A US WW2 combat fighting knife with typical thick leather, ribbed grip, plain blade and double-edged blade. Complete with webbing, steel mounts and composite scabbard. The M3 fighting knife or M3 trench knife was first issued in March 1943. and originally aimed at soldiers not equipped with a bayonet. It was specially designed for use by elite forces such as airborne troops and Army Rangers who need a close combat weapon.

An ultra rare and original Italian Model 1930 Air Force Cadet’s Dress Dagger

This is a seldom seen dress dagger for a young officer cadet in both the pre-War and wartime Italian Air Force. It comprises an eagle-head pommel to the hilt, mother-of-pearl slab grips and a cast brass winged crossguard. The blade is plain, nickel-plated and with a rounded point. The scabbard has an embossed eagle motif with a ribbed and star decoration. There are very few of these daggers in the market.

19th Century Indonesian Kris Dagger

A good example of an antique 19th Century Indonesian kris dagger with carved and stained and deeply carved ivory grip. This appears to be an early example and is rarer than the more common 20th Century kris’ that are available in the market.

Blade is hand-forged

The blade is typically plain and hand-forged with distinctive hand forged layering. This process of layering is distinctive to kris’ and would have added considerable extra strength to the blade. It is a process of blade making that has been undertaken for many centuries throughout the world and I many cultures, from the Vikings through to the Japanese Samurai sword makers. No scabbard. In good condition with some wear to the blade. Blade length is 7 inches (13 inches overall).

A good example of a C.1800 Sri-Lankan Kastane Short Sword

This is a distinctive style of sword that was carried throughout Sri-Lanka during the 18th and 19th Century. It has a wooden grip with finely carved monster-head pommel and brass and iron crossguard. The blade is hand forged and slightly curved. No scabbard.
