A scarce C.1770 Dutch VOC Lantaka Bronze Cannon

C.1770 Dutch VOC (East India Company) type Lantaka Bronze Cannon.  These cannons were used in South East Asia throughout the 18th and 19th Century and were usually mounted on small sailing craft as a defensive weapon.  They were also used by pirates, although this type is more associated with the longer barrelled, more ornate versions. This example is European in style with a typical squat barrel.  Is mounted on a wooden plinth.

Condition of the Cannon

In good condition for its age with consequent wear.  One of the trunnions is missing.

An excellent example of a C.1800 South-East Asian Gilded Bronze Head.  Of large proportions and with fine detailing to the face.  With plenty of traces left of the original gilding.  Of heavy weight and complete with hardwood stand.

Unique example of an English Dated 1660 Officer’s Dish-hilted Sword

This is an English Dated 1660 Officer’s Dish-hilted type Sword of very unusual type and form.  It comprises an iron and brass hilt that is extensively decorated with pierced neo-classical figures, human-heads, mythological creatures and floral, scrolling decoration.  The grip is cast solid brass with deeply chiselled decoration and ovoid pommel.  The iron knucklebow is swollen to the centre and forms two counter-curved hilt bars.  The blade is dated “1660” to both sides.  It is extremely rare to see this combination of brass and iron used on hilts of this period.

Some losses to the hilt dish – blade in excellent shape.

A rare 19th Century Japanese Fireman’s Tobikuchi Axe

A rarely encountered 19th Century Japanese Fireman’ Tobikuchi Axe with wooden shaft and brass banding.  The blade and end to the shaft show traces of the original nickel plating.  These were used to break down obstructions during a fire and also played part as a martial arts weapon.

A terrific Imperial German Officer’s Hunting Sword

Here we have a superb example of a c.1900’s Imperial German Officer’s Hunting Sword of high quality and in excellent condition.  With typical brass clamshell hilt and wooden grip.  The un-marked blade is serrated and with a heavy plating that is still clean and bright.  Complete with original black leather and brass mounted scabbard and frog with carrying straps.

An extremely rare C.1900’s Prince of Wales Regiment Drum Major’s Mace

Here is a very scarce C.1900’s Prince of Wales Regiment Drum Major’s Mace.  It would have been carried by the regimental drum major at the head of the regimental band and is certainly an impressive piece.  With a large silver-plated top and inset badge of the Prince of Wales and motto – “Ich Dien” – I Serve.  There is also an inter-twined silver-plated chain that is bound around the staff and the mace is completed with a long ferrule to the bottom.

Condition of the Mace

In good, overall condition – mace has slight bend – no doubt due to prolonged service use.

An unusual 19th Century Indian/Asian Knife Machete

This is a strange and possibly unique 19th Century Indian/Asian Knife Machete.  It comprises a horn hilt with inset brass star-shaped decoration and brass studs.  The blade is of long, machete-type and has an etched decorated scene comprising two tigers, sun and elaborate scrolled decoration to the border.

Gouge to bottom of hilt near ferrule – minor staining to the blade.

A very fine C.1800 Indo-Persian Decorated War Axe

A good example of an all-steel C.1800 Indo-Persian Decorated War Axe of large proportions and with inlaid silver decoration.  The blade is deeply etched to both sides and comprises elaborate scenes of mounted warriors attacking eachother.  They are surrounded by human heads and myriad floral decoration.  The reverse of the blade has an elephant-shaped, hammer-type fitting that appears to be hollow.  The steel shaft is also etched with swirling decoration to its entire length.

In excellent condition throughout with minor wear.

A fine example of a British 1889 Pattern Infantry Sergeant’s Sword – Hampshire Regiment

This a scarcely encountered British 1889 Pattern Infantry Sergeant’s Sword marked to the Hampshire Regiment.  It was originally issued in 1899 and markings to the hilt and blade indicate re-issuing in 1906, 1909 and 1912.  The sword is of typical regulation pattern and comprises a brass Gothic hilt with an inset royal “VR”.  It is marked to the Hampshire regiment on the top of the quillon.  Numerous issue marks are seen on the blade fortes and the sword was made by Wilkinson.  It is complete with its original and correct scabbard that it also marked to the Hampshire Regiment.

In excellent condition throughout with a clean blade.

An early English C.1780 Infantry Officer’s Sword

This sword is an early example and pre-dates the introduction of regulation pattern swords (1786) in the British Army.  It is also of a type carried during the latter stages of the Amerian Revolutionary War.  The sword comprises a ribbed ebony grip and brass cushioned pommel.  The blade is typically plain and curved.

In good condition overall – old gouge to grip on one side.
