An original German WW2 Red Cross EM Hewer Dagger

German c.WW2 Red Cross dagger as issued to an enlisted man.  Of very distinctive style with chequered composition grip (smooth to reverse) and plated mounts.  The wide blade has a serrated edged and unusual squared off point.  Comes complete with its original black painted scabbard and leather frog.  Stamped with the letter K to reverse.

Condition of the Dagger

In good overall condition with some service wear to the hilt mounts.  Blade retaining all original polish.

This is a French 19th Century military bayonet with ribbed brass grips and plain blade maker marked to St Etienne and dated to August 1872.  Comes complete with steel scabbard.  Rare matching numbers to hilt crossguard and top of scabbard.

An original and scarce British Napoleonic 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper’s Sword

Here we have an original British Napoleonic cavalry trooper’s sword with typical iron, stirrup hilt and ribbed leather on wood grip.  The plain blade is of large and wide proportions with a flared, hatchet point.  Both hilt and blade are solid with no movement.  A good, untouched piece.  No scabbard.

Condition of the Sword

In good overall condition for its age.  Slight loss to leather on grip and age commensurate staining to blade – sword would clean up well if required – have not touched it.

This Moroccan Jambiya dagger has an unsually large hilt that comprises a pronounced brass and copper pommel, plain, slightly curved blade and heavily decorated brass and silver scabbard.

This sgian dubh or sock dagger would have been carried by either an officer or NCO from a Scottish Highland regiment and dates from the late-19th – early 20th Century.  Comprises a chequered bogwood grip with large, brass Black Watch regimental badge and black pommel.  The blade is plain with typical scalloped edge.  Complete with original brass and leather mounted scabbard.  Stamped to maker/retailer – MACDOUGALLS.

These German made Chassepot bayonets are quite scarce and especially so with a maker’s mark.  In this case, the maker’s mark is for PDL – P D Luneschloss.  Comprises a ribbed brass hilt and typical yataghan blade.  Blade has crowned “H” to the blade forte and PDL mark to reverse.  No scabbard.

This is a very good and clean French late-19th Century cavalry trooper’s sword with typical brass, three-bar hilt and leather and brass twistwire bound grip.  The straight blade is dated to 1884.  Both serial numbers match to the hilt guard and top of steel scabbard.

A massive example of a Swedish Model 1825 Cavalry Trooper’s Sword

A rarely encountered Model 1825 Swedish Hussar Cavalry Trooper’s Sword of very large and heavy proportions.  With large iron, three-bar hilt and ribbed leather grip.  The hilt has distinctive double langets.  The blade is plain and slightly curved.  There are some markings to the blade and scabbard.  Comes complete with a heavy leather and iron mounted scabbard.  Scabbard is stamped to Christopher Zetterberg (1775-1852), a famous Swedish sword maker who trained in Solingen, Germany.  This sword is virtually identical to the Norwegian Model 1825 Cavalry Sword – please see here.  Is certainly a huge and massive piece and would have been carried by heavy troopers.  NOTE:  I previously listed this as German sword but subsequent contact with Scandanavian dealers has confirmed that this is actually a Swedish sword.

Condition of the Sword

In good overall condition and with commensurate age staining to the blade.  Age toning to metal parts.

An unusual and scarce US 19th Century Helmet-Pommel Naval Officer’s Sword

Here is a rare 19th Century US naval officer’s sword with typical stylised helmet pommel.  The hilt is well detailed and with elaborate crossguard.  The grip is made from ribbed bone.  The blade is extremely fine and includes crisp etching, including maker’s name, anchor, crossed arrows and foliage.  Sword comes complete with a decorated brass scabbard.

Condition of the Sword

In very good condition overall – extremely clean blade.  Top of scabbard with some buckling.  Would probably have had a brass link chain from crossguard to pommel – now missing but easily replaced.

A scarce and original British Napoleonic Grenadier Officer’s Sword

This is a rarely encountered British Napoleonic Grenadier officer’s sword from the early 1800’s.  It comprises a lionshead hilt with ivory grip bound with brass twistwire.  The forward guard has a flaming grenade to the underside.  The blade is extensively etched and includes royal coat of arms, royal cypher of King George III, standing officer, victory laurels and foliage.  The sword comes complete with its original brass and tooled leather mounted scabbard.

Condition of the Sword

Blade with wear – heavy towards the tip.  Scabbard has old repair.  One scabbard ring missing.
