Extremely rare c.1800 Napoleonic Hungarian Infantry Officer Sword
This is a very attractive and scarce example of a c.1800 Napoleonic Hungarian infantry officer’s sword carried during the Napoleonic Wars. It is a well crafted and quality piece with finely detailed and decorated brass, stirrup hilt and original leather and brass twistwire to the grip. The wide, fighting blade has a pronounced clip point. The blade is profusely decorated with typical etched floral and military motifs. It also exhibits traces of the original blue and gilt decoration that runs to over half of the length of the blade. With original brass museum/collection tag attached to the hilt. Very few of these original Napoleonic swords from Eastern Europe are available in the market and especially in this excellent condition.
Condition of the Sword
In fine condition for its age – blueing to blade has age darkened.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 32 inches (37 inches overall).
